His name is Thanh-Liêm Lê. He currently works for the Association Sportive Evry Courcouronnes. Full of ambition, the young man is preparing intensively for the World Karate Championships 2023, now in its ^26th year. It will take place in Budapest, Hungary, from October 24 to 29, 2023.

His background

He took up karate at the age of 5, but had been on the tatami mat since birth, as his older brother and sister were also karate players.

“I started competing as soon as I could because I’ve always had a competitive spirit,” he asserts.

In 2012, he became French Minime Champion in the -45kg class for the first time, and this title marked the start of several years of flirting with national podiums.He was also Champion de France minime in 2012, double Champion de France junior -61kg (2015 and 2016) and double Champion de France espoir -67kg (in 2017 and 2019).So he has 5 national titles in the youth categories.He began gravitating towards the French youth team in 2012 after his first national title. After several years of hard work and selections, where he came close to joining the national team for the 2015/2016 season, he finished fifth at the World Championships in Jakarta at the end of 2015, then third at the European Championships in 2016.From 2017, he took part in the A/Premier League series as part of the world ranking.Thanh-Liêm Lê is currently ranked ^46th in the world in the -75kg class, as of the 2021-2022 season.

Since his debut in 2012, Thanh-Liêm Lê has come a long way. He currently holds five titles. He is:

• European Team Vice-Champion 2023
• Third in Serie A Larnaca 2023
• Individual French vice-champion -75 kg 2022
• ^3rd at Paris Open 2022
• French Team Champion 2022.

His ambitions: to become world team champion, then win individual selections for the European championships, and also become world champion!
