Clémence Pea’s first karate class dates back to the age of 7, wanting to imitate her brother. She was quickly hooked.

In her first year of competition, she didn’t lose a single bout and went on to win the French Cup. Since then, she has only failed to reach the national podium 4 times.

The young karateka is K1 PREMIER LEAGUE champion from China (+68kg), which took place last March. She also had her first medal on the WKF World Tour, during Karate 1, in Athens, in January 2024, was Winner of the Senior France Cup in November 2022, and reigning France champion (cadets +54kg) in April 2019.

This victory followed a forced 3-month break from sport and intense rehabilitation after a serious ankle injury in mid-season.

Clémence also won the Orleans International Open for the second year running.

“This year has not been rich in results because of my injury, but I don’t intend to leave it at that. I’ve already taken part in training courses in France, notably during preparations for the European championships 2 years ago now”, she declares with determination.

Clémence adds that her main objective at the moment is selection for the French team, to take part in a European or World championship.

“I believe that in the world of karate, you have to look far ahead but go step by step, fight by fight, if you hope to achieve your goals,” she asserts.

Great determination

Clémence Pea is very involved in her club. She teaches classes from babys to adults, sharing her national and international competition experience and passing on what she has learned.

Clémence is a courageous, ambitious girl, full of determination and willpower. Reconciling her studies, karate, social and family life is a difficult and hectic task for her. Yet she admits that this is precisely what she enjoys.

For her young age, Clémence is very mature.

“I make choices and concessions, I can’t live like any other young person my age, that’s for sure, but karate has been and remains a very good school of life. In fact, it has enabled me to get to know myself better, to grow and to take charge of my life very quickly”, says Clémence.

Today, she has a global vision. In her day-to-day life, she affirms that she takes a step back when necessary, and adds that this helps her a great deal, both in building her future and in her personal life.

Clémence doesn’t forget to mention her collaboration with Karate-gi.

“Being part of the Karaté-gi team is a real advantage. The wide choice of equipment and its impeccable quality can only help me and improve my preparation for upcoming events. A big thank you to Bruno Bandelier for his trust and his always sympathetic ear”, she concluded.
